■ INFORMATION
Inacio Urban is a farmer based in the Cerrado Mineiro region. Born into a farming family in Rio Grande do Sul, he grew up immersed in agricultural work, naturally acquiring values of hard work, discipline, and patience. In 1976, believing in the potential of new agricultural areas, he moved to Minas Gerais in search of further growth. At the time, the Cerrado region was considered a challenging area for agriculture, but to him, it represented a major opportunity to build a solid long-term foundation.
Purchased by Inacio Urban in 1984, Rio Brilhante ("Bright River") is one of Brazil's largest coffee-specialized farms, covering over 1,600 hectares. Coffee production focuses on excellent cultivation methods. Soil and leaf analyses are conducted quarterly, and necessary adjustments are made to ensure maximum yield. The trees are pruned regularly to increase harvest volume, and new, disease-resistant varieties are introduced to the farm. The farm also supports various social programs in the region.
This lot is a blend of Catuai 144, Catuai 99, and Catucai 20/15, carefully selected to achieve balance, sweetness, and cup consistency. This lot was harvested mechanically, with careful selection of fully ripe cherries to ensure greater uniformity and quality of the raw material.
After harvest, the cherries passed through sorting channels to remove floaters and impurities, enhancing the homogeneity of the lot. Once washed and sorted, they were moved directly to concrete patios to begin the drying process. On the first day, the cherries were spread thinly to quickly remove surface moisture, then arranged in thick rows and turned frequently to ensure uniform drying until reaching the ideal moisture content of 12%. This traditional process preserves the natural character of the blend, resulting in a clean, full-bodied, and well-balanced cup.
