■ INFORMATION
Inacio Urban is a producer based in the Cerrado Mineiro region. Born into a farming family in Rio Grande do Sul, he grew up surrounded by agricultural work, naturally acquiring values of diligence, discipline, and patience. In 1976, believing in the potential of new agricultural areas, he moved to Minas Gerais in search of further growth. At the time, the Cerrado region was considered difficult land for agriculture, but for him, it represented a major opportunity to build a solid long-term foundation.
Purchased by Inacio Urban in 1984, Rio Brilhante ("Bright River") is one of Brazil's largest coffee-specialized farms, spanning over 1,600 hectares. Coffee production focuses on superior cultivation methods. Soil and coffee leaf samples are analyzed quarterly, and necessary adjustments are made to ensure optimal yields. Trees are pruned regularly to increase productivity, and new, disease-resistant varieties are introduced to the farm. The farm also supports various social programs in the region.
This lot is a blend of Catuai 144, Catuai 99, and Catucai 20/15, carefully selected to achieve balance, sweetness, and cup consistency. For this lot, mechanical harvesting was employed, and by carefully selecting ripe cherries, we ensured higher uniformity and raw material quality.
After harvesting, the cherries passed through sorting channels to remove floaters and impurities, enhancing the homogeneity of the lot. Once washed and sorted, they were moved directly to concrete patios to begin the drying process. On the first day of drying, they were spread thinly to quickly remove surface moisture, then arranged in thick rows and turned frequently to ensure uniform drying until the ideal moisture content of 12% was achieved. This traditional process preserves the inherent natural character of the blend, resulting in a clean, full-bodied, and balanced cup.
