Kondo | Partner "Kondo Coffee Stand"
On Sunday, February 11th, we held a one-day collaborative event called Tanko in Niiza City, Saitama Prefecture, welcoming Mr. Kondo, the owner of "Kondo Coffee Stand" as a guest siphonist.
Kondo is an amazing siphonist who won the Japan Siphonist Championship in his first appearance in 2022 and came in third the following year in 2023. He is actively involved in siphon seminars and extraction events, and factory staff member Watanabe has also attended seminars several times and learned the champion's siphon technique, so this event was held thanks to this connection.
At this collaboration event [Tanko], we will be serving Colombia Jose Julian Gesha Double Washed, roasted by us at SHIKISHIMA COFFEE FACTORY.
・Nicaragua Julio Peralta Salomon Pulped Natural Anaerobic
・CostaRica El Kinkajou Cherry Reposado Red Honey
We had Champion Kondo brew three types of coffee using a siphon.
A siphon is an extraction tool that can deliver completely different liquids depending on the recipe and how it is mixed, even if you use the same tool.
I would be very happy if this opportunity allowed you to experience the profound appeal of extraction equipment.
[Tankou]
Tanko is a word that expresses the spirit of tea and Zen. It refers to interaction with a calm mind, free from attachment and swayed by emotions, like flowing water. We used this word as the theme for the event.
We hope you will enjoy creating a place where people who naturally enjoy and love specialty coffee can talk to each other and experience the differences in individuality among those who share the common goal of popularizing specialty coffee.

Owner and barista at Kondo Coffee Stand.
Born in Niiza City, Saitama Prefecture. Dreaming of opening a stylish cafe, he quit his company. He started working on opening a shop, but was impressed by the specialty coffee and barista skills he encountered in the process. He then changed direction to coffee specialty shops. He felt that he needed brewing skills to convey the excitement of specialty coffee, so he tried competing in competitions. He placed 6th in the Japan Brewers Cup in 2016 and runner-up in 2018. After that, he had a string of years without winning, but in 2022 he finally won the Japan Siphonist Championship. As a result of this, he is scheduled to represent Japan in the World Siphonist Championship to be held in 2024. He aims to further improve his skills.
