PERU | Andarapiño Prophet

■ FLAVOR COMMENT
You will experience a colorful transformation of aromas, beginning with delicate notes of white flowers reminiscent of jasmine and evolving into nuances of violets.
The coffee is characterized by a complex interplay of flavors that shift with temperature, including muscat, lemon syrup, nectarine, and blackberry. It offers a remarkably long finish, marked by a lactic sweetness akin to yogurt and a mineral-rich sweetness reminiscent of raw cane sugar. Its silky mouthfeel contributes to an exceptionally clean cup.
The hints of tartaric and lactic acidity highlight the juiciness characteristic of Kenyan varieties. This lot, now grown in the Andes Mountains of South America, fully embodies why locals refer to it as "Inka Gesha." We invite you to experience this cup, which captures the energy of the land from the unexplored, hidden region of Incahuasi, Peru.

■ INFORMATION
This farm is located at the foot of the majestic Choquesafra mountain in the Incahuasi district, benefiting from mineral-rich volcanic soil and abundant organic matter. The farm offers spectacular views of the snow-capped Choquesafra and the surrounding mountain ranges, and is also home to wild birds and native tree species.
Located at an altitude unmatched by any other coffee-growing region in Peru, this coffee is truly one of a kind. The farm features vegetation that provides shade for the coffee plants, while the trees themselves help retain moisture and organic matter in the soil.
Owned by producer Profeta, the Basul farm is located in the Incahuasi district of the La Convención province. Situated at an altitude of 2,280m in the heart of the Andes, the rich volcanic soil and challenging environment provide one of the best settings for producing coffee with beautiful flavor profiles.
While locally known as "Inka Gesha," a 2022 analysis by World Coffee Research revealed that the variety contains Kenyan SL-9 genetics.
This SL-9, no longer cultivated in its native Kenya, has thrived in the Andean climate across the ocean. Through the traditional local practices of Ayni (mutual aid) and Minka (communal work) that date back to the Inca Empire, it has developed a quality so beautiful that the locals aptly refer to it as "Geisha."
