ETHIOPIA | Nigusse Gemeda

■ FLAVOR COMMENT
The refreshing citrus flavors of orange and lemon, and the impression of white fruits like lychee, are combined with the soft fruitiness of cherry and apricot to create a pleasant sweetness in the liquid. The aftertaste is a calming floral note reminiscent of Darjeeling tea.
This is an Ethiopian washed coffee that you'll want to drink every day and never get tired of.

This lot is produced by Niguse Gemeda Muge, winner of the 2020 Cup of Excellence. The Chile Washing Station is the largest facility owned by him, and is equipped with refining equipment that can produce washed coffee, which is a minority product in Ethiopia.
Originally founded and operated by another owner 10 years ago, Mr. Nigusse began processing the coffee two years ago. The area is beautiful, with a river flowing nearby and natural forests swathes of land. The cherries are grown by small-scale producers within a 5km radius of WS. Only fully ripe cherries are depulped and then fermented for 24 to 72 hours to remove mucilage. The coffee is dried while being repeatedly stirred to ensure uniformity.
