■ INFORMATION
The coffee is processed at a washing station owned by SNAP Coffee.
Buk Saisa's washing station is located in the Hambela-Wamena district, in the highlands of the West Guji region. Buk is one of Ethiopia's highest coffee-growing regions, with ripe cherries harvested from farms at an altitude of 2,300 meters and carefully dried for 12 to 15 days on raised drying beds known as "Dry African Beds." By carefully avoiding over-fermentation during the drying process, Buk Saisa growers are able to create a refined cup profile.
The farm's fields are dotted with healthy, well-spaced coffee trees. Due to the village's rugged terrain, surrounding farmers transport their ripe, red cherries by horse. In Amharic, "Buk Saisa" means "Blessed Valley." This station specializes in natural processing.
